The Job

This house is a vintage fifties home with graceful shade trees, a fine backyard deck, and a two-car garage. It’s located in Ottawa Hills, a small, quiet suburb of Toledo, Ohio. The homeowner, Barbara, is an artist and writer; it made me happy to see the tools of her trade and her works in progress scattered about the house. But the best aspect of this housesit was getting to know Elvis (a lovable old hound dog) and Crush (an aggressively friendly orange cat), with whom I bonded right away.

The Client Reference

On multiple occasions I have asked Jim Trumm to house and/or pet sit for me in the affluent northwest Ohio suburb of Ottawa Hills. In every instance my pets, an elderly dog and a needy cat, thrived and the house was beautifully maintained.

Jim is an articulate and thoughtful former educator and lawyer with a soft spot for animals and excellent housekeeping habits. I know he spent more time than we agreed to playing with Crush and exercising Elvis. On at least one occasion, Elvis was on joint medication and Jim was precise and consistent with dosing….he even offered sound medical advice based on his own experience with senior-aged dogs…and both Elvis and Crush loved being with him.

Jim was available to talk or email any time I contacted him, and he also offered to update me without my asking. (I figured this wasn’t necessary, but it shows his generosity.) He also took in my papers and mail, and kept the walk shoveled without being asked. On the occasions he house-sat, the house was in perfect shape on my return.

I strongly recommend Jim for anyone looking for a responsible, attentive and caring house and/or pet sitter.
